1) I decided to apply for a job while at University in order to help my parents pay the tuition fees. I will thus try to find a job as a personal chauffeur because I personally am really engaged in driving and even after multiple hours of sitting in a vehicle, I do not get unmotivated or tired. As a matter of fact, I am able to drive this particular person around for several hours while simultaneously thoroughly enjoying it.
2) People always say the most important thing when choosing a job is the fact that you must be happy when conducting it. I therefore thought about what type of work I should apply to, and I thought about what I enjoy doing while using my personal talents in order to do a great job. Drivers or chauffeurs have to drive around their bosses and often bring them to important meeting without having a large time frame to get there. The person furthermore has to feel comfortable and safe in the car and the driver thus has to adapt his driving style to the personality of his boss.
3) I have been exposed to various programs and websites throughout my year in Advanced Technology. I learned basic things such as the use of a blog to publish information, to the creation of a CV (Curriculum Vitae), about the use of music editing programs (Virtual DJ) or image editing programs (Adobe Photoshop) and how Technology affects our daily lives. Programs such as Jing, Prezi, Gapps, or Glogster can furthermore improve presentations by making them visually more appealing and professional.
4) Something I learned in this class that really helped me to improve are my newly gathered presentation skills. It is outstandingly important for every individual to be capable of giving good and professional presentations. This will help me a lot in the outside world as well as in the classroom. Evidence for this can be found in all my projects which are located on Moodle. I will provide access for people that would like to see this.
5) In the beginning, I thought advanced technology would be the study of various professional and demanding programs. Also, I thought advanced technology focuses on the development of technology in order to make our daily lives easier and to provide completely new opportunities to the world in any ways. I must say, that this opinion of mine has been proven to be true because this is basically what we have studied and focus on this year.
6) My definition of Advanced Technology is the elaboration of Information Technology (IT) in order to make the world a better place by improving and establishing new types of technology.
7) I used technology mostly in terms of chat and email programs to collaborate and resolve conflicts with other. This provides a very effective way of communication and enables you to be able to share information with someone really quickly. The fact that you can also include links to other pages throughout the process of chatting or emailing with someone enables you to easily be able to link your partner the page you are talking about and show him evidence for whatever you are discussing, making explanations really easy and short.
8) The four C’s make up the learning and innovation skills. These are Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, and Communication and Collaboration. For creativity and innovation, the framework emphasizes Thinking Creatively (brainstorming techniques, creating new ideas, refining and evaluating ideas), Working Creatively with Others (communicating new ideas, being open to diverse perspectives, demonstrating originality, viewing failure as part of the process) and Implementing Innovations (Acting on creative ideas and contributing to a field). These are essential skills for the 21st century. We used these skills for all our projects in order to make them outstandingly good, professional, and engaging.
9) This picture embodies basically my goals in life. To be a successful and hardworking businessman whose effort is represented in his achievements in life. Recognition and respect by others in the office, while being happily married and have children at home.
10) I have combined my Advanced Technology course with other classes I take this year, such as Geography and Yearbook. Using technology, I was able to improve my performance in those classes and to create better outcomes. I became more professional with the use of Adobe Photoshop which helped me become more professional in my Yearbook class while my music project helped me further the understanding of different worldwide cultures.
11) Giving explanations throughout my presentation on how to use Adobe Photoshop more effectively, I gave advices to other people in my Advanced Technology classes on how to be able to do the same. I also provided them with really important information sources and the knowledge of where to find them to help my fellow classmates out even more.
12) The most important skills I achieved throughout this year were the new ways of presenting something to a group of people which will help me throughout my whole life because being a good presenter is both, challenging and rare, which gives me an advantage in the outside world when applying for college and work later because not everyone is able to present this thorough.
13) I am able to follow my goals until I achieve them. I will never give up until the job is 100% perfectly done and I am a person that wants to see those 100% and not only 99%. Therefore, employers can be sure that they will have a very effective and highly motivated person in their team when choosing me.
14) My mentors are my teachers who coach and teach me all kinds of knowledge throughout my school and college time. This way, they help me to know everything I have to know in order to start a successful life.
15) My goal was to learn about such things as Programming, the use of HTML, and to be able to learn the use of new and important programs in order to further my understanding of Advanced Technology.
16) No, because this is still what I am really curious about to learn, because advanced technology provides such a large range of things you can refer to and learn that it is practically impossible to know everything about this topic. Therefore, my goals are and will be the same.
17) Again, the presentation skills we have acquired throughout this year embody something really important when considering careers and education. Now being a person who is able to give really engaging presentations, gives me a humongous advantage and differs me from many other students that are my age.
18) I stayed inspired due to the thought of getting more and more knowledge about different types of technology because this really personally fascinates me and interests me. Thus, being in an advanced technology class, was automatically enough for me to stay inspired throughout the whole year.
19) I would chose to move Einstein, one of the smartest people who has ever lived, into the future so he would be able to create even more technology and to thus further develop technological possibilities humanity has even more. This way, humanity would develop much more quickly and effectively in the future improving the worldwide life and if possible, improve the situation of poor countries such as Somalia, or Congo in order to get rid of poverty.
20) I wanted to choose something I can work on simultaneously while visiting college in a daily manner. I then thought about my strengths, talents, and ambitions, in order to find something I would enjoy doing while getting paid. My choice was something connected to driving immediately and for the fact that I still need to attend a full time university, I chose to become someone’s chauffeur. Fortunately this is something I can start doing immediately without having to study for first because the only thing you need to have is an International driver’s license (which I already am in possession of). After a test drive, your new employer will provide you with the car you will be driving.
21) What I am personally most proud of out of all the projects I created in Advanced Technology is Pulkit’s and my project on the development of visual effects in the film industry and Hollywood. Step 5: I will first of all tell my audience what my project will be exactly. Secondly, i will inform them what software I use and how I connect VirtualDJ to learn something in another class. I will say that music expresses a lot about a country which also is the reason why each country has their very own and particular national anthem. Therefore, I decided to connect music to learn something about East Africa. I will also inform my audience, what information I used in order to be more productive in VirtualDJ and furthermore what sources can be used in order to learn about VirtualDJ.
At the end of my presentation, I will let my audience listen to a part of my song so they can have a very basic impression of what East African music sounds like and how I mixed them together.
Step6: I believe that I did an adequate job with my presentation as well as my final product in form of a mixture of different kinds of East African music. I also appreciated the group work as the feedback of my groupmates thoroughly helped me to improve the overall quality of my presentation. They told me to improve the way I explained Virtual DJ as a program and therefore I did exactly this in my presentation in order to share my knowledge of Virtual DJ with all of my classmates.
I therefore opened a new way to connect Technology to other classes taken in order to achieve new skills and knowledge in certain areas, in my case Geography as music expresses much about the mentality of each individual. Thus, I enhanced my direct community on a school wide base which may open new opportunities for students to further their knowledge.
